Established in 2012, PIJF was conceived by the late Associate Professor Graham Wood, in collaboration with the Board of Directors. The festival garnered early success, ranking 4th in Time Out’s ‘Top 7 Australian Jazz Festivals’ in August 2013 and earning accolades in the West Australian’s Art’s ‘Best in the West’ for that year.
The primary objective of PIJF is to introduce jazz music to a broader audience, both locally and internationally. It endeavors to showcase captivating performances by skilled musicians from across Australia and beyond, delivering innovative programs in an engaging and accessible manner. The ultimate vision is for PIJF to attain national and international renown as one of the foremost jazz festivals globally, attracting distinguished jazz artists from every corner of the world.
